We Know How To Party
The Lovin’ Spoonful’s lyric hot town, summer in the city has never seemed truer. Temperatures were in the low 90s when Brooklynites escaped a suffocatingly humid day for a pool party thrown by Tidal and Root at Williamsburg’s McCarren Hotel. But this was no last-day-of-eighth-grade pool party: the event kicked off with a performance from synchronized swimming team the Brooklyn Peaches in matching red swimsuits and blue floral swimcaps that could have been straight out of an Esther Williams movie — or the Coen Brothers’ Hail Caesar. After the performance, models mingled in the pool along with a few brave, stripped-down civilians, while the rest of us sipped on colorful cocktails and dipped our toes into the clear blue water. Partygoers could be seen perusing one of the many back issues of Tidal on hand, or throwing on a lei or a sailor’s cap for an Instagrammable moment in the photobooth (hashtag: #swimroot) as DJ David Katz played the songs of summer.
